¿Quién es Julio Llort Guindulain?
Julio Llort Guindulain nace en Barcelona, España, el 18 enero 1937.
Hijo de Julio Llort Pastells y Antonia Guindulain Iglesia, el primero reconocido pintor y profesor de Bellas Artes y la segunda laureada escritora Hispano-Americana y doctora de fama en Dermatología y Estética Clínica, asentando su residencia en San Juan de Puerto Rico, en 1960.
Julio Llort Guindulain ingresa a temprana edad a la prestigiosa Academia Tárrega en la ciudad de Barcelona, siendo su maestro el gran pintor catalán y paisajista Ricardo Tárrega Viladoms, de donde sale para cursar la carrera de Bellas Artes en la Academia de San Jorge, en Barcelona.
Ya con el profesorado, estudia Artes Aplicadas en la escuela Massana, especializándose en esmalte al fuego y vitrales. En este tiempo logra estudiar restauración en el taller del profesor Femando Serra Sala, el cual era director del departamento Restauración y Conservación del Patrimonio Artístico y Arquitectónico del Ayuntamiento y Diputación de la Ciudad de Barcelona. Con él adquiere gran experiencia y amplitud de conocimiento de técnicas de pintura y de materiales tales como: el pan de oro, pintura al fresco, esgrafiados, estucos, grabado y otros. Al colaborar en trabajos de gran importancia como son el rescate y traslado de los frescos religiosos de las capillas e iglesias románicas de los Pirineos españoles y su reubicación en las salas del Museo de Arte Románico de Montjuich, Barcelona, con intensos trabajos de campo y taller, siendo responsable de gran cantidad de obra de restauración en dichas salas. Pero, a pesar de esas actividades sigue pintando y participa en varias exposiciones en Valencia, Madrid y Barcelona, ciudad en la cual gana un primer premio en el año 1962 en el concurso "Art.-Nou" y un segundo premio en el 1964 en el "Salón de Junio".
En 1967 se traslada a Puerto Rico y efectúa dos exposiciones exitosas, una de flores tropicales y otra de paisajes típicos caribeños en la Universidad de Río Piedras, las cuales tuvieron una excelente acogida por parte público y la crítica. Colaboró también con su padre en la restauración y salvamento de obras del Museo de Arte de Ponce.
En 1968 se traslada a residir a la República Dominicana donde es nombrado por el entonces Presidente Joaquín Balaguer, como restaurador de la Galería Nacional del Palacio de Bellas Artes.
En el año 1969, se casa con la señora Georgina Rosario Alberti-Basilis y con dicha unión echa raíces definitivas en la República Dominicana. A partir de este momento, entra en contacto directo con el mundo del arte dominicano.
Remodela la colección de Bellas Artes dándose a conocer en el campo de la restauración y mantenimiento de coleccionistas privados e instituciones públicas, trabajando intensamente para los Museos de Santo Domingo, entonces en construcción, entre ellos: el Museo de las Casas Reales, Casa de Tostados, Patrimonio Cultural, Cabildo de la Catedral Primada, Basílica de Higüey, Convento de los Dominicos, Museo del Hombre, Casa de Duarte y otros.
Who is Julio Llort Guindulain?
Julio Llort Guindulain was born in Barcelona, Spain, on January 18, 1937.
He is the son of Julio Llort Pastells, the first recognized painter and teacher of Fine arts, and Antonia Guindulain Iglesia, the second distinguished writer Hispano-American and doctor of reputation in Dermatology and Clinical Aesthetics, seating with her residence in San Juan of Puerto Rico, in 1960.
Julio Llort Guindulain joins at an early age to the prestigious Academy Tárrega in the city of Barcelona, being his teacher the great Catalan landscape painter Ricardo Tárrega Viladoms, wherefrom he goes out to deal the career of Fine arts in the Academy of San Jorge, Barcelona.
Already with the professorship, he studied Applied Arts in the school Massana, specializing himself in the enamel to the fire and stained glasses. In this time he manages to study restoration in the workshop of the teacher Femando Serra Sala, which was the director of the department “Restoration and Conservation of the Architectural Heritage of the Town Hall and Deputation of the City of Barcelona”. With it he acquires great experience and extent of knowledge of painting skills and materials such as: golden bread, fresco painting, “esgrafiar”, stuccoes, engraving and others. He collaborated in works of great importance like the rescue and movement of religious frescoes of the chapels and Romanesque churches of the Spanish Pyrenees and their relocation in the rooms of the Montjuich's Romanesque Art Museum, Barcelona. This was accomplished with intense fieldworks and workshop, while being responsible for a great quantity of work of restoration in the mentioned rooms above. But, in spite of these activities, he continues painting and takes part in several exhibitions in Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona, city in which he earns his first prize in the year 1962 in the contest "Art.-Nou" and the second prize in 1964 in the “Lounge of June ".
In 1967 he moves to Puerto Rico and carries out two successful exhibitions, one of tropical flowers and another one of typical Caribbean landscapes in the University of Rio Stones, both of which had an excellent appreciation by the public report and the critique. He also collaborated with his father in the rescue and restoration of works of the Ponce's Art Museum.
In 1968 he moves to the Dominican Republic where he is named by Joaquín Balaguer, President at that time, as the main restorer of the National Gallery of the Palace of Fine Arts.
In the year 1969, he marries the lady Georgina Rosario Alberti-Basilis and with this union he definitively stays in the Dominican Republic. From this moment, he gains direct contact with the Dominican art world.
After he remodeled the collection of Fine arts he got fame in the field of restoration and maintenance of private collectors and public institutions, working intensely for the Museums of Santo Domingo, then involving himself in construction, such as: the Royal Houses Museum, House of Toastings, Cultural Heritage, Chapter of the Given Primada Cathedral, Higüey's Basilica, Convent of the Dominicans, Museum of the Man, Duarte's House and others.
